Golf In Sixth Place After First Round of Big 5 Invitational

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA – A mere 10 strokes separates first from 10th place after the first round of the 2012 Philadelphia Big 5 Golf Invitational with the host Temple Owls four strokes off the lead and in sixth place with a 310. Sacred Heart and Yale share the lead in the field of 19 teams with a 306 following Saturday's round at the 6,670-yard par 70 North Course at Philmont Country Club
Temple senior Devin Bibeau leads the Owls and is tied for sixth with a five-over 75. Freshman Brandon Matthews is one stroke behind his teammate and tied for 10th while sophomore Matthew Crescenzo carded a 77 and sits in a tie for 16th place. Junior Russell Hartung (82) and sophomore Paul Carbone (87) tied for 68th and 89th, respectively, to round out the squad.
Villanova was one stroke behind the co-leaders and were followed by UConn (308), Princeton (309), Temple, Binghamton (311), Drexel (313), Navy (314), Columbia (316), Fordham (316), Brown (316), Hartford (318), Cornell (318), La Salle (323), Penn (323), Dartmouth (324), Seton Hall (325) and Saint Joseph's (341).
Princeton's Greg James is the leader after the first round with a one-over 71.
Play resumes Sunday morning.
