Brandon McManus Named National Specialist of the Week

PHILADELPHIA – Temple senior PK/P Brandon McManus (Hatfield, Pa.) was named the National Specialist of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards on Sunday.
In Saturday's 17-14 overtime win at Connecticut, McManus made an extra point with 19 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game and force overtime. He nailed a 29-yard field goal in overtime to give the Owls their second overtime win in school history and first back-to-back wins in BIG EAST play in school history.
Against the Huskies, McManus also punted eight times for 341 yards (42.6 average) and kicked off three times for 195 yards (65.0 average) and a touchback.
After five games, McManus is 15-of-16 in PATs and 8-of-10 in field goals. He is Temple's leading scorer with 39 points. McManus has punted 30 times for 1,348 yards (44.9 average) and kicked off 28 times for 1,759 yards (62.8 average) and 21 touchbacks.
McManus was also honored with ESPN Helmet Stickers.
For the second consecutive week, senior RB Montel Harris (Jacksonville, Fla.) earned BIG EAST Helmet Stickers from ESPN. In yesterday's victory, Harris started his third consecutive game for the Owls.
The transfer recorded his second consecutive 100-yard performance with the Owls, leading the rushers with 142 yards and a 24-yard TD run in the second quarter. He also returned four punts for 21 yards, his first action on special teams for the Owls. Harris leads the nation with 24 total 100-yard games in his career (2 at Temple, 22 at Boston College).
Temple (3-2, 2-0 BIG EAST) hosts No. 19/17 Rutgers (6-0, 3-0) on Oct. 20 in a Noon game at Lincoln Financial Field in Breast Cancer Awareness Day. The BIG EAST Network (shown locally on 6ABC) will televise the game nationally.
