Owls' Men's Tennis Sends Five Players to USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional

PHILADELPHIA – Five Temple men's tennis players will be active at the 2012 USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional Championship this weekend, hosted by the University of Virginia. The Owls send Hicham Belkssir, Kristian Marquart, Nicolas Paulus, Kacper Rams and Hernan Vasconez to the competition, which will take place at the Snyder Tennis Center on Oct 18-22. The event will be moved indoors to the Boar's Head Sports Club in the event of inclement weather.
The USTA/ITA Regional Championships feature some of the top men's and women's players across the country. Over 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete at one of the 87 USTA/ITA Regional Championships held across the country.
Rams, a senior, is the only player on the team who has competed at the regional tournament. He holds a career singles record of 4-3 at the event, and went 5-3 in doubles action in his first three years at the tournament. Each year, he teamed up with his brother, 2012 graduate Filip Rams, and on two occasions, the duo nearly upset the top-seeded doubles team.
