10.21.12 | Football, Brandon McManus: All-American Candidate

PHILADELPHIA – Temple senior PK/P Brandon McManus (Hatfield, Pa.) was named the national Honorable Mention Punter of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards on Sunday.

In Saturday's 35-10 loss to No. 19/17 Rutgers, McManus punted five times for 239 yards (47.8 average), including a career-long 68-yard punt in the second quarter.

Moments later, McManus nailed a 49-yard field goal, his second longest of the season, to put Temple ahead 10-0 at intermission.

After six games, McManus is 16-of-17 in PATs and 9-of-12 in field goals. He is Temple's leading scorer with 43 points. McManus has punted 35 times for 1,587 yards (45.3 average) and kicked off 31 times for 1,947 yards (62.8 average) and 23 touchbacks. He needs just 18 points to surpass RB Bernard Pierce (2009-11) as Temple's career scoring leader.

The honor from CFP is McManus' sixth this season.

Temple (3-3, 2-1 BIG EAST) travels to Pittsburgh (3-4, 0-3 BIG EAST) on Oct. 27 for a Noon game at Heinz Field. The BIG EAST Network (shown locally on 6ABC) will televise the game nationally.
