PROVIDENCE – Temple seniors RB Montel Harris (Jacksonville, Fla.) and PK/P Brandon McManus (Hatfield, Pa.), who helped Temple to a record-setting win at Army, have earned BIG EAST Conference honors.
Harris was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while McManus was named the Specialist of the Week
In Temple's 63-32 win at Army, Harris recorded his fourth 100-yard performance as an Owl. He led the Owls in rushing with a career-high 351 yards and a career-best seven touchdowns, both BIG EAST and school records, on 36 carries. He had 173 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries in the first half alone. It marked the 26th 100-yard rushing game of his career (4th at Temple, 22 at Boston College) which leads the nation. It also marked the first 300-yard rushing performance of his career.
In nine games, Harris is the Owls' leading rusher with 948 yards and 12 touchdowns on 165 carries. He is also the team scoring leader with 72 points. Harris also leads the BIG EAST Conference in rushing and scoring.
In the NCAA stats, Harris is No. 25 in rushing (105.33), No. 49 in scoring (8.00), and No. 49 in all-purpose running (117.78).
Additionally, Harris was named the National Running Back of the Week by the College Football Performance and the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness. He also earned Helmet Stickers from ESPN.
With his fourth PAT in the second quarter, McManus became Temple's career scoring leader, surpassing former RB Bernard Pierce (2007-09) who finished with 324 career points. He finished the game with a school record nine PAT made and a school record nine PAT attempts on the day and now has 330 career points. He is also Temple's career leader in field goals made (58), field goal attempts (81), and punting average (45.4).
McManus also kicked off a career-high 10 times for a career-best 648 yards against Army.
In 10 games, McManus is 30-of-31 in PAT and 12-of-15 in field goals. He is second in team scoring with 66 points. His kickoffs average 63.6 yards. McManus leads the BIG EAST Conference in punting (45.2).
In the NCAA stats, McManus is No. 8 in punting (45.16) and No. 45 in field goals (1.20).
McManus was also named Honorable Mention Specialist of the Week by CFPA for the ninth time this season.
The BIG EAST honor is the second for Harris this season. He also earned the honor on Oct. 8.
McManus has earned Specialist of the Week honors four times, while senior RB Matt Brown (Baltimore, Md.) earned it on Nov. 5.
Temple (4-6, 2-4 BIG EAST) closes out the conference slate with Syracuse (6-5, 4-2 BIG EAST) on Friday, Nov. 23. Kickoff at Lincoln Financial Field is set for 11 a.m. before a national audience on ESPN2. The Senior Class will be honored during a pregame ceremony.
