Britton Starts Season With A-10 Performer Of The Week Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Picking up from where she finished a stellar rookie season, sophomore Margo Britton has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Women's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday for meets competed in Nov. 26 – Dec. 2.
In the team's opening meet of the 2012-13 season on Saturday at the Jack Pyrah Invitational, Britton proved to have no rust, as she claimed event titles in both the weight throw and the shot put.
The reigning A-10 Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Shot Put Champion repeated as the shot put champion at the Jack Pyrah Invitational, as she surpassed her mark of 3.84m in last year's event with this year's first place spotting of 14.17 meters, which also met ECAC qualifying standards. Before that, her mark of 14.42 meters in the weight throw was also far enough to earn her the top spot in the competition.
Britton, who was garnered with three A-10 Rookie of the Week honors last year, earns her first Performer of the Week recognition of her career.
Joining her on the weekly honor roll, La Salle's Nick Crits was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week, the Rookie of the Week honors went to Anthony Campbell of Charlotte and to Fordham's Emma Cleary.
