PHILADELPHIA - Elementary school students from around the area will be on hand to watch Temple women's basketball face George Washington at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 15 in the Liacouras Center as the Owls host the Colonials for the annual "School Day" game. Temple (16-8, 9-1) stands alone in second place in the Atlantic 10 and is going for win number 10 in a row, while George Washington (11-13, 4-6) looks to rebound after losing three of its last four contests.

Fans unable to attend the game can check out a live webcast HERE, and live stats HERE.

THE OPENING TIP
•Temple is 9-1 in the Atlantic 10 and riding a nine-game win streak, having lost just one game since the start of 2012...Most recently the Owls got a 77-50 home win vs. UMass and a 66-50 win at Saint Louis.

•The Owls now stand alone in second place in the A-10 with their lone loss coming to #23 St. Bonaventure, still only Temple's second regular-season A-10 loss since the 2009-10 season.

•Having allowed their opponents 55 or fewer points in 11 games this season including seven A-10 games, the Owls lead all teams in the A-10 in scoring defense for conference games at 56.4 points per game.

•The team recently raised $1,500 for its Play 4Kay Day game on Feb. 11, an initiative created by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer while also honoring legendary NC State coach Kay Yow, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2009.

BJ Williams had a season-best performance at Saint Louis with 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field including 3-of-6 behind the arc...Victoria Macaulay notched her second double-double of the season with 10 points and a career-tying 13 rebounds in the win.

•Freshman Rateska Brown came off the bench for a career-high 12 points at Saint Louis.

BJ Williams has led the team in assists in 17 games this season and is currently leading all players in the A-10 with 113 assists (4.9 per game).

Victoria Macaulay is averaging 10.5 ppg in A-10 games along with 8.9 rpg (second in the A-10 for league games)...Her 22 blocks in A-10 play rank first among all players at 2.2 blocks per game.

Shey Peddy currently ranks second among all players in the A-10 with 16.5 points per game but first for A-10 games at 18.1 ppg...She also ranks third in steals (for all games) with 59 (2.7 per game).

•George Washington has been up and down all season with the exception of a four-game win streak early on...The Colonials have lost three of their last four A-10 games, most recently suffering a 63-51 home loss to Richmond after defeating Xavier at home, 54-44...Danni Jackson leads GW with 12.7 points per game while Tara Booker is averaging 11.4 ppg along with a team-best 6.8 rebounds per game.

SERIES RECORD
Although George Washington leads the all-time series 28-22, Temple has won five of the last six contests, including the last four straight. Last year's 53-point margin of victory, 89-36, marked the second-largest margin of victory for the program. Two years ago, Temple won 61-51 at home.

LAST TIME VS. GEORGE WASHINGTON
Six players scored in double figures in a record-setting, 89-36 win for Temple at George Washington on Feb. 16, 2011. The Owls won their 13th straight game by the second-largest margin in the history of the program, and it was also their 20th win of the season. Qwedia Wallace led the Owls with 18 points and Shey Peddy scored 16 along with dishing a game-high nine assists. Kristen McCarthy scored 14 points as did Victoria Macaulay, BJ Williams finished with 11 and Marli Bennett scored 10.

GW scored the first basket of the game on its first possession, but it would be the Colonials' last for nearly a 10-minute stretch. Temple put on a performance at both ends of the court, scoring 28 unanswered points while forcing 11 turnovers. By the end of the first half, the Colonials committed 18 turnovers off which the Owls scored 30 points.

BRACKETOLOGY
ESPN's Charlie Creme released his latest Bracketology on Feb. 13, in which he has Temple as a 10 seed playing seventh-seeded South Carolina in College Park, Md.

SPREADING THE OFFENSE
For the first time this season, five players reached double digits in scoring in Temple's 77-50 win vs. UMass on Feb. 11. Victoria Macaulay led the team with 18, BJ Williams had 13, Kristen McCarthy and Shey Peddy scored 12, and Brittany Lewis scored 11 and notched her first career double-double with a game and career-high 11 rebounds.

THREE NAILBITERS
Three of the Owls' early A-10 wins (Richmond, Dayton, Duquesne) all saw the teams separated by just a point in the final minute, but Temple hung on to win all three and prove it has what it takes to hang on in tight games.

THIRD A-10 WEEKLY HONOR FOR PEDDY
For a second straight week and the third time this season, Shey Peddy was named the A-10 Player of the Week on Feb. 6. She averaged 23.5 points, 7.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week, including an 80-70 win at Saint Joseph's on Feb. 1 and a 69-51 victory over Fordham on Feb. 4. The senior guard opened the week with a game-high 26 points, shooting 40 percent (6-15) from the field and 100 percent (10-10) at the line against the Hawks, while adding four assists.

TRIPLE DEUCE
For the first time since 1989, three Owls scored 20 or more points in Temple's 80-70 win at Saint Joseph's on Feb. 1. Shey Peddy led TU with 26, Victoria Macaulay scored a career-high 21, and Kristen McCarthy added a double-double of 20 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Macaulay's 20th and 21st points were in the final minute as she hit 2-of-2 at the line with 27 seconds remaining.

THE KRIS AND SHEY SHOW
Senior guards Kristen McCarthy and Shey Peddy, although leading the Owls in scoring all season, particularly lit it up from the floor in recent games. With 128 combined points (67 Peddy, 61 McCarthy) in Temple's games vs. Saint Joseph's, Charlotte and Xavier, all wins, the duo combined for well over half of the Owls' 209 total points. Both scored 20 or more points in two of them, with McCarthy also notching two double-doubles.

PEDDY THEFT
Shey Peddy continues to find ways to grab the ball from Temple's opponents, as she leads the team and ranks second in the A-10 this season with 68 steals (2.8 per game). Peddy set the program's all-time record for steals in a single season last year with 104, recording at least one steal in all but one game. Her 3.2 spg a year ago ranked second in the A-10 and tied for 10th in NCAA Division I.

McCARTHY STANDS IN FIFTH ALL-TIME
With a game-high 14 points vs. Villanova on Dec. 22, Kristen McCarthy moved into fifth all-time at Temple in career scoring, now with 1,515 points.

McCarthy started the season in 11th place, but advancing further will take a little more time as Kamesha Hairston ('07) stands in fourth place with 1,573 points (58 ahead). At McCarthy's current pace of 13 ppg, it would take her about four and a half more games to reach Hairston's mark.

BJ DISTRIBUTION COMPANY
Senior BJ Williams has led the Owls in assists in 17 games and has racked up 113 total assists (4.9 per game) to lead all players in the Atlantic 10.
