Women's Tennis Earns 7-0 Win Over George Washington

Squad picks up second A-10 win of season
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Temple women's tennis team easily defeated visiting George Washington on Saturday, February 25, handing the Colonials a 7-0 defeat at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center.
GW opened the match strong, winning 8-3 at number one doubles for the early advantage. The Owls, however, responded with an 8-4 second doubles victory from Yana Mavrina and Paola Calderon and an 8-3 clincher at number three from the duo of Jordan Batey and Alicia Doms.
In singles play, the Cherry and White won five of the six bouts in straight-sets. Only Rebecca Breland was threatened to give up the shutout at number five, but the freshman came from behind to win 6-7(8-6), 6-0, 10-7.
TU is 3-4 and hosts Buffalo in a non-conference match at 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
