PHILADELPHIA - After playing half of its Atlantic 10 regular-season schedule, the Temple women's basketball team stands in a tie for second with Dayton at 6-1. The Owls (13-8 overall) will go for their sixth straight win when they play host to Fordham on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 2:00 p.m. in McGonigle Hall. The Rams are 11-12 overall and 2-6 in conference play after losing four of their last five games.

THE OPENING TIP
•Temple is 6-1 in the Atlantic 10 and riding a six-game win streak, most recently beating Saint Joseph's on the road, 80-70 on Feb. 1, Charlotte at home by a score of 65-55 and Xavier on the road, 64-38.

•The Owls hit 21 of 25 free throws at Saint Joseph's, the most free throws made in a game since the third game of the 2010-11 season (vs. Buffalo)...Shey Peddy hit nearly half of them, going 10-for-10.

Shey Peddy and Kristen McCarthy have combined for 128 of the Owls' 309 points in the last three games...Peddy had 26 at Saint Joseph's while McCarthy had 20, McCarthy scored 23 while Peddy scored 22 against Charlotte, and Peddy had 19 while McCarthy had 18 at Xavier.

•Peddy is the reigning A-10 and Big 5 Player of the Week after averaging 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in two wins last week, also shooting a blistering 58 percent from the field including 8-of-15 from behind the arc.

•The Owls' other three A-10 wins (Richmond, Dayton, Duquesne) all saw the teams separated by just a point in the final minute as Temple has now proven it can hang on in tight games.

•Senior BJ Williams has led the team in assists in 15 games this season and is currently leading all players in the A-10 with 102 assists (5.1 per game).

Joelle Connelly and Victoria Macaulay had career performances in a win vs. Penn (1/21)...Connelly scored her Temple career high with 16 points while Macaulay scored a then-career-high 20 points.

•Peddy currently ranks second among all players in the A-10 with 16.8 points per game...She also ranks third in steals with 55 (2.7 per game).

•Fordham is nearly .500 overall at 11-12, just one win shy of its total last year, but the Rams have struggled recently with only one win in their last five games...The Rams are coming off a heartbreaking, 56-55 loss at La Salle after winning their own thriller, 56-54 vs. Massachusetts one game earlier...Three players are averaging between 10 and 11.2 ppg, led by junior Arielle Collins at 11.2 ppg... Fordham leads all teams in the A-10 in scoring defense, having allowed its opponents just 52.2 ppg.

SERIES RECORD
Temple has a 22-4 advantage in the all-time series against Fordham, and has won the last 17 straight. The last time the Rams earned a win was in a one-point victory on Jan. 13, 2000, 79-78. Last year the Owls ran away with a 71-28 win on the road, and two years ago at home they defeated Fordham by a score of 67-34.

LAST TIME VS. FORDHAM
Opening the game on a 15-0 run and holding its opponent to the fewest points since 1984, Temple dominated in a 71-28 win at Fordham on Jan. 15, 2011. Kristen McCarthy and Shey Peddy scored 13 points apiece to lead Temple, while Qwedia Wallace and Natasha Thames both scored 11. Temple scored close to half its total points on Fordham's 24 turnovers, and the Owls recorded 12 steals for a second straight game.

GAITLEY CONNECTION
Fordham's head coach Stephanie Gaitley, in her first year with the Rams as part of an impressive 26-year career, is the mother of former Owl and current men's basketball graduate assistant coach Dutch Gaitley. He played in 2010-11 for Temple after three years at Monmouth (2007-10), where his mother coached the women's team for three years (2008-11).

TRIPLE DEUCE
For the first time since 1989, three Owls scored 20 or more points in Temple's 80-70 win at Saint Joseph's on Feb. 1. Shey Peddy led TU with 26, Victoria Macaulay scored a career-high 21, and Kristen McCarthy added a double-double of 20 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Macaulay's 20th and 21st points were in the final minute as she hit 2-of-2 at the line with 27 seconds remaining.

THE KRIS AND SHEY SHOW
Senior guards Kristen McCarthy and Shey Peddy, although leading the Owls in scoring all season, have particularly been lighting it up from the floor in recent games. With 128 combined points (67 Peddy, 61 McCarthy) in Temple's last three games, all wins, the duo have combined for well over half of the Owls' 209 total points. Both have scored 20 or more points in the last two games, with McCarthy also notching two double-doubles.

OWNING THE GLASS
Temple has allowed its opponents an average of just 33.5 rebounds per game to rank first among all teams in the A-10. The Owls also rank third in scoring defense with their opponents averaging only 57.1 points per game.

POSTS STEP UP
Temple has relied heavily on guard play for most of the season and finally got the kind of game it was looking for from its post players in a 72-47 win vs. Penn on Jan. 21. Victoria Macaulay scored a career-high 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting along with grabbing a game-high eight rebounds, while Joelle Connelly scored her Temple career-high with 16 points including 8-of-8 at the line.

MAC ATTACK
Victoria Macaulay had a strong start to the A-10 season on the glass, recording double-digit rebounds in three of Temple's first four conference games. Her performances included a career-high 13 rebounds in a win at Richmond on Jan. 7.

BIGGEST COMEBACK WIN IN TWO YEARS
Temple's 56-55 win in the A-10 opener at Richmond saw the Owls overcome a 14-point deficit en route to the victory. Temple has had plenty of near-comebacks this season and last, but none that resulted in a win since a season-opening victory in 2009-10 when Temple came back from 18 down to defeat Illinois in overtime.

RIGHT IN IT
Five of TU's losses came in a six-game road swing, and TU lost the first four by an average of only seven. They were within two in the final minute three times (#24/25 Ohio St., N. Illinois and St. John's).

BJ DISTRIBUTION COMPANY
Senior BJ Williams has led the Owls in assists in 15 games so far this season, and has already racked up 102 total assists (5.1 per game) to lead all players in the Atlantic 10.

PEDDY THEFT
Shey Peddy continues to find ways to grab the ball from Temple's opponents, as she leads the team and ranks third in the A-10 this season with 55 steals (2.7 per game). Peddy set the program's all-time record for steals in a single season last year with 104, recording at least one steal in all but one game. Her 3.2 spg a year ago ranked second in the A-10 and tied for 10th in NCAA Division I.

McCARTHY STANDS IN FIFTH ALL-TIME
With a game-high 14 points against Villanova on Dec. 22, Kristen McCarthy moved into fifth place all-time at Temple in career scoring, now with 1,494 points.

McCarthy started the season in 11th place, but advancing further will take some time as Kamesha Hairston ('07) stands in fourth place with 1,573 points (79 ahead of McCarthy).

At McCarthy's current pace of 13.8 ppg, it would take her six more games to reach Hairston's mark.

NOW THE TEAM TO BEAT
After four years of finishing higher than predicted in the A-10, the Owls are finally picked first in a tie with Dayton. Last year Temple was picked third and ended up second, and two years ago was picked fifth and went on to tie for second.
