KINGSTON, R.I.  -
On the women's side of the Tribute to Charles Torpey Invitational, held by the University of Rhode Island, the Temple Owls posted it best all-around meet in the final regular season indoor meet on Saturday afternoon, as several runners took event titles while posting new personal records.

In the 3000 meter run, freshman Jenna Dubrow reset the Temple University record with her finish time of 10:07.92 in the event, which broke the mark she posted back on Dec. 2 when ending the race in 10:15.64 at the Jack Pyrah Invitational.

Running in the same event, sophomore Sarah Rutter placed 10th with an elapsed time of 10:39.93 to yield herself to a new career-best.

Junior Ambrosia Iwugo had a stellar afternoon, and maybe the most impressive for the Owls, as she took top finishes in the 200 meter and 400 meter dashes. Iwugo finished with ECAC qualifying times of 25.45 and 57.09, respectively.

The Owls didn't seem to stop adjusting their personal records.

Comprised of juniors Tonney Smith, Sheina Roberts, sophomore Victoria Gocht and senior Tashima Stephens, the Owls 'A' squad finished faster than anyone else, as they crossed the finish line in 3:54.25 to meet ECAC qualifying standards while nabbing first place in the event.

Junior Isatta Kenneh took the top spot in the 60 meter dash with her personal record time of 7.75.

Also in track events, sophomore Anna Pavone set a new personal best in the 1 Mile run as she took 11th place in therace with a time of 5:14.79. Junior Crystal Hercules posted a new individual record of a 7.92 finish time in the 60 meter dash.

When the day shifted to field events, the Owls continued to set high personal marks.

Leading the way, junior Alanna Owens and freshman Margo Britton showed their strength in the shot put.

Britton took the title in the event with her throw distance of 47 feet, 11.75 inches to place just ahead of Owens in second place, who threw 46 feet, 8.0 inches. Both distances were ECAC qualifying distances.

Taking third place with a distance of 50 feet and 11 inches in the weight throw, Britton was able to put up a new career-best in that event as well.

In the long jump, senior Frances Norton landed the longest jump with her career-high distance of 17-08.75, which was the best among the 20 competitors in the event.

Sophomore Brianna Alvarez placed third in the triple jump with her distance of 37 feet, 2.25 inches, which marked a new individual-best.

Saturday's events were run in honor of the late La Salle head coach Charles Torpey, who suddenly passed away last July.

Prior to the event, Temple head coach Eric Mobley, who served as an assistant  (1997-2000) under Torpey at La Salle, reflected on his memories of the late Explorers' coach in a ceremony prior to the events. [Watch here]

"It was a good honor that URI and their staff put on the meet in his [Torpey's] honor," Mobley said. "This act elevates the level of our conference. It was great to be part of that and to be able to honor Coach Torpey."

"Today was a real good meet for us," Mobley said. "With this being the last meet before the A-10 Conference meet in a couple weeks, it's great to see we're still getting better. Coming out of this meet, we should have momentum that should set us up well for the conference meet."

The Owls will have off two weeks from competition until they return to Kingston, R.I. for the Atlantic 10 Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 17th and 18th.
