3.10.12 | Women's Rowing
DeLAND, FL - While facing a challenging 15mph sustained head wind, the Temple women's rowing team opened up its 2012 season at the Stetson Sprints Invitational on a bumpy Lake Beresford against two Florida rowing powerhouses: Jacksonville and Stetson. Two of the three Temple boats won by open water during a two flight format.
"This is an excellent start to a completely overhauled program," said first-year head coach Jason Read. "Our success today capped an epic week of spring training in Deland. We rowed almost 200,000 meters since last Saturday in addition to logging a record number of miles running. The fitness and technical abilities of Temple's largest team in its 25 year history continues to improve."
Temple's Varsity 8 "Cherry" boat, comprised of Brittany Adell (stroke), Taylor Wasserleben (7-seat), Joanna Sutor (6-seat), Claudia Loeber (5-seat), Paige O' Sullivan (4-seat), Kara Carson (3-seat), Moira Meeks (2-seat), Susan O'Neil Coyne (bow) and Eleanor Oken (cox), won its race as did the Owls' Varsity 8 "white", comprised of Megan Boyer (stroke), Jeanine Lees (7-seat), Kara Jackson (6-seat), Sarah Barber (5-seat), Allison Watkins (4-seat), Jackie Lees (3-seat), Blair Bradley (2-seat), Angela Flinn (bow) and Jillian Malkowski (cox).
