BRONX, NY - The #23/25 Temple men's basketball team closes out its regular season Saturday with a road game against Fordham (4:00 p.m./1210 AM WPHT). With a win, the Owls (23-6, 12-3 A10), who have already clinched a share of their record 10th Atlantic 10 Conference regular season title, will be looking to capture its first outright championship since the 1989-90 season.
Senior guard Ramone Moore continues to lead head coach Fran Dunphy's Owls, as well as the A10, in scoring with a 17.9 average. He is joined in the backcourt by junior Khalif Wyatt (17.4 ppg.), who ranks third in the A10 in scoring, and senior Juan Fernandez (11.1 ppg.), who is eighth in the conference in assists. The trio are averaging 46.4 points, 10.5 assists and 5.7 three-pointers per game.
Graduate center Micheal Eric (9.1 ppg., 8.9 rpg., 2.1 bpg.) has been red-hot of late, posting double-doubles in each of his last three contests. He is joined in the starting frontcourt by junior forward Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson (9.1 ppg., 6.7 rpg.), who ranks fifth in the league in field goal percentage (.571).
Redshirt freshman forward Anthony Lee (5.1 ppg., 5.5 rpg.) bolsters the inside for the Owls while redshirt junior T.J. DiLeo (3.0 ppg.) and sophomore Aaron Brown (6.7 ppg.) provide support in the backcourt.
Fordham, under the direction of head coach Tom Pecora, is led by junior forward Chris Gaston. One of the top inside players in the A10, Gaston tops the Rams in scoring (17.0 ppg.) and the conference in rebounding (9.9 rpg.). Sophomore guard Brandon Frazier also averages double figures (11.8 ppg.) while leading the team in assists (114).
Temple leads the alltime series, 39-13, and has won the last five meetings, including a 78-60 decision at the Liacouras Center earlier this season (Feb. 1).
