Owls Friday-Saturday Series at Charlotte Moved to Friday Doubleheader
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Due to the threat of bad weather moving in to the Charlotte area this weekend, the Temple softball games against Atlantic 10 rival Charlotte, originally scheduled as two single games on Friday and Saturday, have been changed to a doubleheader to be played on Friday. The first game will begin at 4 p.m., with the nightcap following at 6 p.m.
The games are the first in A-10 play for both teams. Temple enters contests with a 10-11 overall record, while Charlotte comes in at 13-11.
The Owls are led by the bats of Meaghan Marley and Sarah Prezioso. Marley is hitting .324 with three doubles, while Prezioso, the reigning A-10 Co-Player of the Week, has a .300 average with a team-best 18 hits that include two doubles, two homeruns and one triple.
On the mound, Brooklin White is the team leader with a 2.54 ERA and a 5-5 record with seven complete game efforts in 11 appearances.
Temple posted a 22-23 overall record a year ago that included a 12-6 mark against A-10 teams and its first appearance in the conference tournament since 2007. The 49ers are the last league foe TU played, losing for the second time in the double elimination format in 2011 to the host team, 3-1. Charlotte also gave the Owls their first loss of the tournament, a 3-0 decision on the opening day.
The Cherry and White are 6-10 against the 49ers and are looking for their first win in the last five tries.
