COLUMBUS, Ohio -
After day one of the NCAA Fencing Championships held at the French Field House on the campus of The Ohio State, the Temple Owls currently sit in 10th place with 23 points. Out of 19 participating squads. Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State are tied with 51 points for first place.

“As with any National Championship with fencers of such high quality, we had our ups and downs," head coach Nikki Franke said. "The most important thing is that we never gave up and fought for every touch.  We had some very good wins against some outstanding fencers and hope to get more tomorrow as we conclude the competition. We just have to be confident and continue to work hard.”

Fourth-year national qualifier Kamali Thompson currently sits in eighth place in sabre heading into Friday's bouts.
