Women's Rowing Places First in Heat at San Diego Classic

SAN DIEGO – Temple women's rowing had a successful first day at the San Diego Crew Classic. The Owls' Varsity 8 competed in the Carley Copley Cup and won their heat with a time of 6:56, beating out Cal, Union BC and Miami. It marked the program's first-ever win at the San Diego Crew Classic, and the first time the Owls have defeated Cal in a race.
The Varsity 8+ was comprised of Eleanor Oken (coxswain), Vicky Joye (stroke), Claudia Loeber (seat-7), Brittany Adell (seat-6), Taylor Wasserlebn (seat-5), Joanna Sutor (seat-4), Jeanine Lees (seat-3), Paige O' Sullivan (seat-2) and Jackie Lees (bow).
By placing first in the morning heats, the Owls have secured a spot in the finals, which will be held on Sunday. Watch it live here start time 2:50 pm ET.
