Men's Tennis Wraps Up Season With Disappointing 4-1 Loss to George Washington

Fourth-seeded Owls fall to fifth-seeded Colonials at Atlantic 10 Championship
MASON, Ohio – The fourth-seeded Temple men's tennis team was upset by defending champion George Washington, 4-1, Friday afternoon in the 2012 Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship at the Lindner Family Tennis Center. The Owls had defeated the Colonials, seeded fifth, by a 4-2 count early in the season.
TU won the doubles point, taking No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Senior Filip Rams and junior Kacper Rams teamed up for the final time to defeat Francisco Dias and Ugur Atalay, 8-5, at the top flight. Seniors Stanislav Stekolshikov and Mansur Gishkaev, both competing in their final match in the Temple uniform, secured the doubles point with an 8-6 win at No. 3.
George Washington came right back, however, winning four singles matches to claim the match. Senior Dmitry Vizhunov (No. 4) and Gishkaev (No. 6) were both winning their matches when the Colonials reached the fourth point, and therefore did not finish.
Temple finishes the season with a 9-10 overall record.
