Women's Rowing Places Two Boats in Petite Finals of Knecht Cup

Camden, NJ- The Temple women's rowing team had a solid showing at day one of the Knecht Cup held on the Cooper River. The Owls advanced to the Petite final in the JV 8+, Varsity 8+ and the third final in the Varsity 4+.
The Varsity 8+ comprised of Ellie Oken (coxswain), Victoria Joye (stroke), Claudia Loeber (seat-7), Brittany Adell (seat-6), Taylor Wasserleben (seat-5), Joanna Sutor (seat-4), Jeanine Lees (seat-3), Paige O' Sullivan (seat-2) and Jackie Lees (bow) placed third with a time of 6:39, Buffalo went on to win the heat with a time of 6:33. The Owls will compete in the Petite Final tomorrow scheduled to start at 2:30 pm.
The Junior Varsity 8+ comprised of Jillian Malkowski (coxswain), Gina Inverso (stroke), Allison Boc (seat-7), Kara Carson (seat-6), Kara Jackson (seat-5), Angela Flinn (seat-4), Allison Watkins (seat-3), Sarah Jennings (seat-2) and Kate Taylor qualified for tomorrows Petite Final with a third place finish in the semi-final heats. (7:05) Duke went on to win the heat with a time of 6:51.
The Owls Varsity 4+ comprised of Katie Cardwell (coxswain), Blair Bradley (seat-4), Sarah Barber (seat-3), Megan Boyer (seat-2) and Lauren Kidd (bow) qualified for the third final with a sixth place finish in the semi-final heats (8:36). Cross-town rival Villanova went on to win the heat with a time of 7:48.
The Cherry and White lightweight Varsity 8+ comprised of Jillian Malkowski (coxswain), Gina Inverso (stroke), Laura Turner (seat-7), Lauren Kidd (seat-6), Kate Taylor (seat-5) Sarah Jennings (seat-4), Kelsey Joniec (seat-3), Caroline Slusarczyk (seat-2), and Mary Kathleen Logue (bow) placed sixth in the semi-final heats with a time of 7:36, Princeton won the race with a time of 6:57.
The Frosh/Novice 8+ comprised of Erin Elizabeth Matz (coxswain), Kelly Turner (seat-7), Susan O'Neil Coyne (seat-6), Moira Meeks (seat-5), Caroline Slusarczyk (seat-4), Margot Salter (seat-3), Annie Buckley (seat-2), and Mary Kathleen Logue (bow) placed sixth with a time of 7:42, first place went to Wisconsin lightweight with a time of 7:07 to advance to tomorrow's finals.
The Owls return to action tomorrow, Sunday April 15th for event finals.
