Britton and Goldsworthy Set New School Records At Patriot Invite

FAIRFAX, Va. –Freshman Margo Britton and sophomore Taylor Goldsworthy destroyed school records in on Saturday at the George Mason Patriot Invitational. A week after being named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, Britton claimed first place in the discus throw with her toss of 156 feet and 10.28 inches to shatter the mark of 151 feet 10 inches set by Ebony Moore in 2010. Goldsworthy's time of in the 11:41.44 in the 3000 meter steeplechase earned her third place overall in the event and surpassed the TU record best time of 11:51.78 set by Sarah Rutter last season.
Junior Isatta Kenneh had a solid day in her events, as she posted personal best times in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes. In the 100 meter edition, Kenneh took sixth place with a time of 12.15. Her preliminary time was more impressive, as she crossed the finish line in 12.11. In the 200 meter dash, she also placed sixth overall, finishing in a time of 24.77.
Sophomore Stephanie Dorantes placed third in the 5000 meter run with an impressive time of 18:31.77.
In other field events, Britton also competed in the shot put where she took a fourth-best mark with her throw 13.31 meters. Senior Alanna Owens had the better finish in the event, placing third with her shot that went 14.02 meters.
Freshman Kiersten LaRoche had a high mark in the long jump for the Owls, landing 5.67 meters from her starting point to take third place.
Temple will head to Princeton for a weekend of events for the Larry Eliis Invitational, which will be held Friday and Saturday, April 20-21.
