PURCHASE, NY - The Temple golf team placed eighth out of nine teams at the Century Intercollegiate which completed play Sunday. Rhode Island won the two-day tournament, held at the 6,9250-yard, par 71 Century Country Club.
Junior Devin Bibeau led the Owls and tied for 20th overall with a 15-over 157 (77-80). Sophomore Matthew Crescenzo was two strokes back with a 159 (82-77) to tie for 25th. Freshman Mike Amole had the Owls' best round Sunday, and tied for for fifth best in the field with a three-over 74. He finished tied for 27th overall (86-74, 160). Sophomore Russell Hartung (83-80, 163) and freshman Paul Carbone (80-85, 165) tied for 39th and 43rd, respectively.
Harvard finished six stroles back of Rhode Island with a 606. They were followed by Princeton (617), Dartmouth (624), Yale (625), Brown (628), Cornell (631), Temple (633) and Yale II (661). URI golfer Branden Chicorka led the field with a one-over 143.
