Filip tabbed first-team selection; Kacper named to second team and all-academic squad
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Temple's Filip Rams (Katowice, Poland) has been named to the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis All-Conference First Team for the fourth season in a row, in voting conducted among the conference head coaches. In the same vote, junior Kacper Rams (Katowice, Poland) was named a member of the A-10 All-Conference Second Team. In addition, Kacper Rams earned a spot on the Academic All-Conference squad for the second-consecutive season.
George Washington swept the year-end awards, as freshman Francisco Dias was named the league's Most Outstanding Performer and Most Outstanding Rookie Performer, according to a vote of the league's 12 head coaches. Colonials' head coach Greg Munoz was also honored, as he was tabbed Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.
Filip Rams posted an 11-11 overall singles mark during an injury-plagued season. With his spot on the first team, Filip becomes just the second Temple player to earn four-straight all-league nods, and the first ever to make the first team all four years. The senior captain was 3-0 against Atlantic 10 foes, playing all of his singles matches at the No. 1 position. In doubles play, Filip most often teamed up with younger brother Kacper, going 12-7 at the first flight. The pair reached a national rank of #80 at one point this season. Filip Rams ends his Temple career with a 75-37 singles record and a 79-34 doubles mark.
Kacper Rams finished the year with a team-best 16 singles wins, going 16-16 overall. Playing the majority of his matches at No. 2, he was called upon to move up to the first flight when Filip's injuries prevented him from playing. Kacper posted a respectable 3-3 record while playing his first-ever Temple matches at No. 1. In addition to his 12-7 record alongside his brother in doubles play, Kacper also paired up with four other teammates throughout the year to go 7-2 for a 19-9 overall doubles record. The 3.77 finance major has accumulated a 48-43 career singles record and 63-25 doubles mark in three years.
Joining Filip Rams and Dias on the All-Conference first team were GW's Ugur Atalay and Alex van Gils; Charlotte's Jack Williams and Kamil Khalil; Aram Abgaryan and Pete Carpenter of Duquesne; Fordham's Kuba Kowalski; Ethan Dunbar of Richmond; and Xavier's Mesa Mei and Jimmy Roebker.
The All-Conference second-team consists of Kacper Rams, along with Charlotte's Alex Calott and Paul Cisti; Aidan Koross of Dayton; Fordham's Srikar Alla and Mischa Koran; Ulrik Thomsen of George Washington; Richmond's Sebastien Fauchet and Jesse Feder; Alex Veronis of Saint Joseph's; Joe Flanagan of Saint Louis; and Brandon MacDonald of Xavier.
Charlotte's Anthony Davison and Duquesne's Rich Robbie were also recognized as Honorable Mentions, while the Academic All-Conference team is comprised of Abgaryan, Atalay, MacDonald, Kacper Rams, Veronis and Dayton's Joe West.
