Golf Competing at A10 Championships This Weekend
4.27.12 | Men's Golf
CORAL SPRINGS, FL - Temple men's golf is looking for its first Atlantic 10 Conference Championship since 1995 as the Owls tee-off Friday in the three-day tournament held at the par 72, 7,055 yard Heron Golf Club. Live scoring is available here.
Charlotte, which has won six straight A-10 golf titles, will make a bid to be the first A-10 team to capture seven titles. Temple is one of three other teams (Rhode Island, Penn State) that have won six A-10 championships, but none of them ever reached number seven.
The championship is seeded based on the previous year's tournament results, so the 49ers will be the top seed. Xavier is second and Richmond is third. Players from those three teams tee off last, beginning at 9:45 a.m.
Temple is the fourth seed, Rhode Island is fifth and George Washington is sixth. Their five threesomes begin play at 9:00 a.m. Fordham (No. 7), eighth-seeded St. Bonaventure and Dayton (No. 9) begin at 8:15 a.m. and Saint Joseph's (No. 10) and La Salle (No. 11) open the championship at 7:30 a.m. with five twosomes.
Teams will play five golfers and score four and pairings will be recalculated after each round. A trophy presentation and awards ceremony will immediate follow Sunday's final round. The winner of the A-10 Championship will advance to the NCAA Men's Golf Tournament.
