PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's rowing team took third place in both the Varsity 8 and Junior Varsity 8 at the Bergen/Kelly Cup Regatta Saturday morning on the Schuylkill River.
The Varsity 8, comprised of Jillian Malkowski (coxswain),Gina Inverso (stroke), Paige O' Sullivan (seat-7), Taylor Wasserleben (seat-6), Joanna Sutor (seat-5), Jeanine Lees (seat-4), Kara Jackson (seat-3), Claudia Loeber (seat-2), and Victoria Joye (bow), finished a mere second behind Saint Joseph's and 5.3 seconds behind Drexel.
The Junior Varsity 8, comprised of Ellie Oken (coxswain), Jackie Lees (stroke), Allison Boc (seat-7), Kara Carson (seat-6), Brittany Adell (seat-5), Sarah Barber (seat-4), Moira Meekes (seat-3), Angela Flinn (seat-2) and Kate Taylor (bow), easily outdistanced fourth place La Salle, but was 16 seconds behind Drexel and Saint Joseph's, which finished one-two, respectively.
The Owls' Varsity 4 placed sixth while the two Novice 8 shells were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Temple returns to action next Saturday when the Owls travel to the Cooper River for the Atlantic 10 Championship.
