Golf Places Seventh at Yale Spring Opener

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Temple golf team turned in its best showing of the spring season Saturday, placing seventh in the 12-team field of the Yale Spring Opener. The two-round, one-day tournament was held at The Course at Yale, a the par 70, 6,749 course.
Freshman Paul Carbone (78-76) tied for 19th overall with a 14-over par 154 to lead Temple. Junior Devin Bibeau (78-77, 155) was one-shot back and tied for 21st while sophomore Matthew Crescenzo (77-80, 157) was three behind Bibeau and tied for 25th. Freshman Mike Amole (78-82, 160) and sophomore Russell Hartung (81-82, 163) rounded out the Owls squad tied for 37th and 43rd places, respectively.
Tennessee won the tournament with a 574 score while Volunteer golfer Rick Lamb (71-68, 139) was the overall champion. Tennessee was followed by Dartmouth (591), Seton Hall (602), Yale (618), Brown (623), Lafayette (625), Temple (626), St. Peter's (627), Colgate (631), Yale II (641), Manhattan (647) and Niagara (685).
Temple next competes at the Princeton Invitational on April 14-15.
