Women's Rowing Set For Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta

The Temple Women's Rowing team will race six boats in the 2012 Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta being held on the Schuylkill River this weekend.

The Varsity 4, comprised of Erin Matz (coxswain), Laura Turner (stroke), Angela Flinn (seat-3), Rikia Trischuk (seat-2) and Susan Coyne (bow), will start off the day for Temple with an 8:42 a.m. heat.  The Owls boat will row from lane two.

The Owls Pair of Megan Boyer (stroke) and Blair Bradley (bow) rows next from lane six at 10:12 a.m.

The Varsity 8,  comprised of Ellie Oken (coxswain),Gina Inverso  (stroke), Allison Boc (seat-7), Taylor Wasserleben (seat-6), Joanna Sutor (seat-5), Jeanine Lees (seat-4), Kara Jackson (seat-3), Claudia Loeber (seat-2), and Paige O' Sullivan (bow), is up next, rowing from lane four with an 11:30 a.m. race time. Also in lane four will be the Owls' Freshman/Novice 4 boat with their start time scheduled for 2:36 p.m.

Temple's Freshman/Novice 8, comprised of Samantha Deegan (cox), Kelsey Joniec (stroke), Margot Salter (seat-7), Kelly Hill (seat-6), Alyssa Patari (seat-5), Mary Margaret Viscuse (seat-4), Stephanie Pennypacker (seat-3), Jasmine Rogers (seat-2) and Tashia Myrick (bow), will take to the water with a 5:02 p.m. heat time and will row from lane two while the Owls' final boat, the Junior Varsity 8, comprised of Jillian Malkowski (coxswain), Jackie Lees  (stroke), Victoria Joye (seat-7), Kara Carson (seat-6), Brittany Adell (seat-5), Sarah Barber (seat-4), Moira Meekes (seat-3), Sarah Jennings (seat-2) and Kate Taylor (bow), will also row from lane two with the start time being 5:37 p.m.

Saturday's semifinals get underway at 7:44 a.m.   Follow owlsports.com for results and start times.  The finals on Saturday will be televised live by WPVI (6ABC) beginning at 1:00 p.m.   Action News Sports Anchor Keith Russell will lead the coverage along with commentators Ferdinand Bergen, former LaSalle High School and Temple University Dad Vail gold medal winner, and Renee Hykel, a standout rower at Saint Joseph's University and a former Olympian.

Jason Read, a four-year Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta gold medal winner for Temple and current women's rowing coach at Temple will join Russell, Bergen and Hykel on Saturday evening for a recap show that can be viewed on 6ABC beginning at 7:30 pm.
