Box Score (PDF)
HARRISONBURG, Va. – Temple kept pace with a very pesky James Madison squad Sunday afternoon, as redshirt senior goalkeeper Tara Murphy made a season-high 12 saves in net to keep the match scoreless for the first 71 minutes. JMU's Kelly Kerrigan broke the tie before helping to set up Eileen Sechler for the insurance goal in the 73rd minute, catapulting the Dukes (2-1-0) to a 2-0 win over the Owls in the final game of the Fairfield Inn By Marriott Invitational at University Park.
The Dukes controlled a majority of the offense, blasting 24 shots in the contest. After having the lone goal for the Owls in Friday's match against Hofstra, senior Jourdan Brill had a team-high two shots Sunday, helping her to earn a spot on the weekend's all-tournament team.
In the 16th minute, senior Jackie Krostek gave the Owls a chance at taking the lead first for the third straight game, as she pelted a shot right on goal, but JMU keeper Kate Courter got in the way to make her only save of the game.
After playing three straight road matches to begin the season, Temple (0-2-1) will finally make its 2012 debut in Ambler when it hosts New Jersey Institute of Technology Friday at 4:00 p.m.
