Brandon Matthews Named A-10 Golf Rookie of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Temple freshman Brandon Matthews has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Golf Rookie of the Week for the week of Sept. 12-18.
Matthews carded a 6-under par 64 on the final round of the McLaughlin (Sept. 16) to lead Temple at the prestigious Bethpage Red Course. It was the lowest round at The McLaughlin, and the lowest by a Temple golfer since Walter Brown shot a school-record 63 at the 1973 Yale Invitational. Matthews, who also set the Owl freshman mark for a single round, finished tied for seventh with an even par 210 (72-74-64).
