LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J.— The midway point of the 2012 season is upon Temple Men's Soccer as it gears up for its final non-conference match on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. against the Rider Broncs at Ben Cohen Field.

Looking to rebound from Tuesday's narrow 1-0 loss to city-rival Villanova, the Owls will use Saturday's match against the Broncs as their last opportunity to move back to the .500 mark before entering Atlantic 10 Conference play next Friday.

Freshman Jared Martinelli has been named the A-10 and Philadelphia Soccer Six's Rookie of the Week for his performance and production in each of the last two weeks. Having at least a point in five straight matches, the Wildcats put an end to his streak as they held TU scoreless for the 90 minute duration. Martinelli is Temple's leading scorer with 11 points, including three goals.

Also making contributions of late has been redshirt sophomore Chas Wilson and senior Cody Calafiore. Wilson has tallied four goals in his first season since transferring from Delaware to Temple, while Calafiore had a four-point week last weekend, having a goal and pair of assists to help the Owls sweep a homestand in games against Saint Peter's and Howard.

Missing the first three games of the season, junior Bobby Rosato seems to getting more comfortable in goal as of late. Last Sunday at the Ambler Sports Complex against Howard, he nailed down his first shutout of the season and then put up another strong performance at Villanova on Tuesday, despite allowing the game's only goal.

Rider takes its home field on Saturday night looking for its first win of 2012. In their last time out, the Broncs were downed by Penn by a count of 7-2 at the Princeton Tournament.

Sophomore Ryan Walsh leads the way with four points, having two of the team's five goals this season.

Time in between the goal posts has been shared between seniors Jason Giordano and Matt Perrella, who combine for 38 saves and a goals against average of 3.00.

In the all-time head-to-head series, Temple holds a commanding advantage, having a record of 25-5-2. The last time the two teams met was two seasons ago, when the Owls handed the Broncs a 4-0 loss at the Ambler Sports Complex.
