BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Temple Women's Cross Country completed the Brown 6k race of the 39th Annual Paul Short Invitational in 1:59:44 to place 26th overall out of 39 teams, marking the Owls' highest finish ever at a Paul Short Invitational. Sophomore Jenna Dubrow, who set TU's record for the best performance by an individual at the meet a year ago, destroyed her own record by placing 13th with a time of 22:22.
Placing as Temple's fastest runner for the second time in two meets this season, Dubrow has now led the Owls in all eight meets that she has competed in over the course of her career.
“Jenna asserted herself and she put herself in front of the group, just as she did at the last race,” assistant coach Adam Bray said. “She is really starting to believe that she can race at a high level and the results are proving it.”
“The women ran really, really well today and everyone ran significantly faster at this race compared to how they performed a year ago,” Bray said. “It is unbelievable how much everyone improved and I am very proud at how they performed. Today demonstrated what great athletes this program has and we're just hitting the tip of the iceberg—and I'm really looking forward to us building off of this.”
With its 26th place ranking Friday afternoon, set its highest placement since 2009 when it claimed a 29th place finish.

Helping Temple pick up 619 total place points, sophomore Kelly Broadbent was Temple's fifth-fastest runner, with a time of 24:14.
Rounding out the run for the Owls, junior Lauren Holguin and senior Rayna Kratchman carried in times inside the 25-minute mark, which were quick enough to be included in Temple's combined time.
The University of Pittsburgh won the event title with a combined time of 1:53:30, yielding to 124 total place points. Junior Victoria Davis of Bloomsburg claimed the overall individual title with her time of 21:50.
Among other Atlantic 10 schools participating in the meet, Rhode Island was the runner-up, finishing with a combined time of 1:54:11, while Massachusetts earned a 32nd place ranking.
Temple will have off until Oct. 13 when it heads to Lafayette College for the Leopard Invitational, which will be the Owls' last race before hosting the Atlantic 10 Championships on the course of Belmont Plateau at West Fairmount Park on Oct. 27.
