Golf Ties for Ninth at the Macdonald Cup

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Temple University golf team tied for ninth place in the 15-team field at the Macdonald Cup. Yale, which hosted the Invitational at par 70, 6,749 yard The Course at Yale, won the Cup for the second straight year while Notre Dame's Niall Platt led the field with a two-under 138.
Temple freshman Brandon Matthews, the reigning Atlantic 10 Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, led the Cherry and White and tied for 15th overall with an two-over par 142 (70-72). Sophomore Matthew Crescenzo (74-72) was next for the Owls and tied for 32nd with a 146. Senior Devin Bibeau (71-77, 148) was two strokes behind Crescenzo and tied for 39th while sophomore Paul Carbone (73-76, 149) tied for 49th. Sophomore Conor Dunne (80-79, 159) rounded out the squad in a tie for 73rd.
Yale edged Hartford and St, John's by three strokes. Notre Dame placed fourth with a 569 and the Irish were followed by Harvard (572), Central Connecticut (575), St. Edward's (580), St. John's (280) is one shot off the pace and is followed by Yale (282), Notre Dame (282), Hartford (283), Harvard (283), Rhode Island (578), St. Edward's (287), Temple and Fordham (585), Columbia and Sacred Heart (589), Brown (591), Yale II (592) and Holy Cross (595).
Temple is off until October 13-14 when it hosts the Big 5 Invitational at Philmont Country Club.
