Men's Golf Ties for 4th at Temple Invitational

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA - Sophomore Brandon Matthews and senior Matt Crescenzo each shot three-over 73s on the final round of the Temple Invitational to help lead the Owls to a tie for fourth at the 17-team Temple Invitational Sunday.  Hartford  (562) win the 17-team two-day event held at Philmont Country Club, besting runner-up St. John's (577) by 15 strokes.  Cincinnati (580) was three shots back in third followed by Temple (582), Harvard (582) and Seton Hall (582).

Matthews, who won the event last year when it was dubbed the Philadelphia Big 5 Invitational, was one-over for the tournament (68-73, 141) to place fourth among the 93 golfers. Hartford's Evan Russell easily won the individual title, finishing with a 10-under 130 (62-68). 

Junior Matt Teesdale and Crescenzo were tied for 16th with six-over 146 scores. Freshman Evan Galbreath was three shots behind his teammates and tied for 39th with a 149 while senior Russell Hartung finished tied for 67th with a 154.

Binghamton followed the trio of teams tied for fourth with a 583. They were followed by Penn (589), Richmond (592), Princeton (593), Rhode Island (595), La Salle (607), Cornell (609), Dartmouth (612), Saint Joseph's (612), Fordham (616) and Brown (616).

Temple closes out the fall season at the Barnabas Health Intercollegiate, hosted by Seton Hall, on Oct. 20-21.
