Women's Soccer Set to Face SMU in the American Athletic Conference Tournament

ORLANDO, Fla. – Women's soccer is set to face SMU in the first round of the American Athletic Conference Tournament. TEMPLE NOTES...
The Owls finished the season 6-11-1, 1-8-0, finishing ninth in the conference. The Owls were picked to finish dead last in the conference in the preseason by the coaches, but they finished ahead of Houston. The Owls started the season with a 4-0 start, the best start in program history.
Goalkeeper Shauni Kerkhoff has recorded seven shutouts on the season, playing every single minute for the Owls. She has a goals allowed average of 1.25 with 92 saves and a .800 save percentage. She has been on the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll two times for her strong play this. She ranks third in the conference with save percentage, fifth in goals against average and is first in total saves.
The Owls have featured a balanced scoring attack, with nine different players scoring goals and 13 players recording points. Ingrid Mello, Alyssa
Kirk and Erin Lafferty are tied for the team lead with three goals each, and Kelly Farrell and Elaine Byerley each have two goals as well. Farrell and Lafferty are tied for the team lead in points with seven.

Shelby Redman leads the team in points with 11, scoring three goals with five assists. Redman's eight goals have her leading the team in that category. Courtney Smith leads the team in assists with 10, and she also has three goals. Taylor Barg has four goals and three assists, while
