TEMPLE NOTES...
Temple (9-3-4, 2-1-4) is coming off a 2-2 tie against UCF last Sunday. The Owls held a 2-0 lead in the second half before the Knights came back and tied the game. They are currently ranked No. 27 in the nation by Top Draw Soccer, 7th in the Mid-Atlantic Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's and hold the 45th best RPI in the nation.
Seven seniors will be playing their last regular season home game.  A special ceremony will be held before the gam to honor them.  The seven seniors are  D/M Jake Lister, M/F Vaughn Spurrier, M Ryan Bradbury, M Sam Speaker, M/D Nolan Hemmer, D Sam Heller, and D Sawyer Hemmer.
With a win against Cincinnati, the Owls can finish as high as second in the conference. If the Owls finish in the top four, they will host a quarterfinal game next Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The top four teams in the conference will host quarterfinal games, with the winners advancing to the semifinals that will be held at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, home of MLS team FC Dallas. The Owls are currently fourth in the standings with 10 points, but USF and SMU can leapfrog over the Owls if either team was to win and Temple loses.
Goalkeeper Dan Scheck has been very solid in net this season. He has recorded shutouts in eight of nine wins for the Owls, with 71 total saves, and only has allowed 12 goals all season. He was named Goalie of the Week by the American Athletic Conference and Defender of the Week for the Philadelphia Soccer Six on September 9th. Scheck leads the American Athletic Conference in shutouts, save percentage (.855) and is second in total saves.
Sophomore Jared Martinelli has also had a solid regular season. He has six goals and four assists to lead the team, including his first career hat trick in a 3-0 victory over Wofford. Martinelli is tied for fourth in the league in goals, and his 16 points are tied for third in the American Athletic Conference. Four of his goals are game-winners.
Ranked as the #20 recruiting class of 2013, the newcomers for the Owls have made a huge impact this season. Eight newcomers have played, with Stefan Mueller and Robert Sagel starting all 16 games. Sagel has made the biggest impact so far. He has scored three goals along with an assist. His last goal came on a penalty kick in a 2-1 home win over Memphis that gave the Owls their first ever American Athletic Conference victory.
Redshirt-junior Chas Wilson was named Offensive Player of the Week by the conference for his goal-scoring this past week. Wilson had the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win at Rutgers last Wednesday. He had another goal in the tie against UCF. This marks the second time a Temple player was selected for the weekly award, as Martinelli won it earlier this year after his hat trick against Wofford.
The Owls are undefeated in their last seven games (3-0-4). They are also unbeaten at home (6-0-2) and outscoring teams 12-3
CINCINNATI NOTES...
The Bearcats come into this match with a 6-10-1, 1-6-0 record. The Bearcats have won three of their past four games, only dropping a 1-0 game in overtime at UConn. The Bearcats defeated IUPUI and Belmont with 2-1 scores, and they upset #6 Louisville 2-0 on their senior day. They currently are in last place in the conference standings. They have clinched the ninth seed for the conference tournament, as they can't move up at all in the standings.
Ashani Walker leads the team with five goals and 12 points. He is the only player with 10+ points. Will Diebold is second on the team with eight points on two goals and four points
Goalkeeper Alex Gill has started 14 games with Taylor Hafling starting the other three. Gill has a 6-7-1 record with three shutouts. He has registered 65 saves for a save percentage of 0.774 and allowed 19 goals. Hafling has a 0-3-0 record. He's made 12 saves for a save percentage of 0.632 and allowed seven goals.
