Fitzgerald Named American Freshman of the Week, Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA – Temple freshman Feyonda Fitzgerald (Norfolk, Va.) has been named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week and the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week.
In Tuesday's game against No. 21/18 Michigan State, Fitzgerald paced the Owls with a career-high 24 points, including 13 points scored in the first half alone. She went 7-of-8 from the charity stripe and dished out five assists while playing 39 minutes.
In Saturday's 81-57 win over Oakland, Fitzgerald had 19 points, six assists, and five rebounds. She played 38 minutes.
Fitzgerald has started all five games at point guard. She is the team's top scorer with 15.4 ppg and has 21 assists. Fitzgerald is shooting 40 percent (27-68) from the field and 78 percent (14-18) from the line.
The American Athletic Conference honor is Fitzgerald's second this season. She also earned Freshman of the Week accolades on Nov. 18.
Temple (4-1) concludes its four-game homestand with Philadelphia Big 5 rival Saint Joseph's (6-1) on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m. at McGonigle Hall. The men's teams from both schools follow in an 8 p.m. contest in the Liacouras Center. For ticket information, call 215-204-8499
