Iwugo Leads Women's T&F At Day One Of New Balance Collegiate Invite

NEW YORK, N.Y.—For the second time in the last three weeks, the Temple women's track and field team sent competitors to the 168th St. Armory in New York City. This time around, the Owls took part in the New Balance Collegiate Invitational. On day one of events , junior Ambrosia Iwugo qualified for the 400 meter dash finals, where she placed second with a personal best time of 55.67.
In the preliminaries of the same event, sophomore Michelle Davis Timothy took a 13th place ranking with a time of 56.41, ahead of senior Sheina Roberts in 26th (57.13) and senior Tessa West in 43rd (57.99)
Taking part in the night cap, junior Anna Pavone, senior Jade Wilson, senior Tonney Smith and sophomore Jenna Dubrow combined for a finish time of 12:00.55 in the medley relay race, pinning them in 11th place.
Friday's field events saw sophomore Margo Britton finishing sixth in the shot put championship, throwing a distance of 15.64m. Fellow sophomore Kiersten LaRoche placed 15th in the long jump with a distance of 5.52m.
Temple will continue its weekend of competition at the New Balance Collegiate Invitaitonal when day two of events begins Saturday morning.
