PHILADELPHIA— On Friday the Temple men and women's track and field teams will travel up I-95 to Kingston, R.I. to compete in the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships. Both squads were projected to finish third overall in the preseason poll, but they will be striving for their first league title in program history . The meet is being held on Saturday and Sunday at URI's Mackal Fieldhouse.
Both squads have seen much success as several individuals for both squads have seen been personal bests since the indoor half of the season began in December.

Field events have been a strong point for the men's team this indoor season. Juniors Gabe Pickett and Daryl McDuffie have left meets with personal best jumps this season. Pickett earned IC4A marks and first place for his 14.71m triple jump at Jack Pryah Invite. McDuffie, who was the runner up for the high jump championship a year ago, had a 2.06m high jump at the Gotham Cup earlier this season, which was a personal best and enough to also earn him IC4A marks.

The men's runners have had several solid performances over the course of the season. Sophomore Cullen Davis has only competed in two meets so far this season but he set a personal best mile time of 4:12:02 at the Penn State National Invite. Also notable from the meet was  senior Damian Myers, who took a sixth place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a personal record time of 49.17 to meet IC4A qualifying standards before helping sophomore Lionel Wilson, juniors Carlton Stafford and Gabe Pickett to a season-best time in the 4x400 meter relay with an IC4A qualifying time of 3:18.23.

The women's side has also been filled with notable performances. Just last week at the Armory sophomore Kaitlin McSurdy, junior Gennie Depass, and sophomore Andrew Mathis all finished with personal bests in their respective events.  Sophomore Jenna Dubrow and junior Anna Pavone have had performances over the course of their careers that have carried the Owls at major meets. The two will run the 1-mile and will be relied upon to score points for the team.

Sophomore Kiersten LaRoche competed in the pentathlon for the first time this season where she placed fourth. In the same meet seniors Isatta Kenneh and Jade Wilson went up against some of the nation's best competitors. Kenneh ran the 60 meter dash in 7.73 for 17th place, while Wilson rushed for an 18th place finish in the 60 meter hurdle in a time of 8.80.

Sophomore Margo Britton has proved to be a dominant force for women's field events. Britton, the 2012 A-10 Indoor Shot Put Champion, has finished in the top three of her four meets this season as well as breaking the school record at the Penn State Invitational. Even though she placed 30th overall at the New Balance Invitational, she still set a personal best throw of 16.13m.
