Owls' Men's Tennis Drops 5-2 Match at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The freshmen continue to impress for the Temple men's tennis team, picking up the only two points for the Owls in a 5-2 loss at Navy on Wednesday, February 6. The match took place at the Tose Family Tennis Center.
Newcomers Santiago Canete and Nicolas Paulus were TU's lone winners on the day, earning victories at the fourth and fifth singles spots, respectively.
Navy took an early 1-0 lead with the doubles point win, and went on to build a 3-0 advantage with two early wins in singles play. Canete broke the scoring slump for the Owls with his 6-4, 6-0 win over Blake Daniel at number four, before the Midshipmen secured the win with two more singles victories. Paulus came back from a first set loss at number five to defeat Nicholas Gutsche, 3-6, 6-1, 7-5, and pick up Temple's final point.
The Cherry & White are 2-1 and will be back in action on Saturday, February 9, with a 1:30 p.m. match against Davidson being held at the Atlantic Club in Manasquan, N.J.
