STANFORD, Calif. - After being within two goals of #18 Stanford (4-2) in the final 10 minutes, ultimately Temple lacrosse fell short and lost for the first time this season by a score of 14-10. Jaymie Tabor led the Owls (4-1) with three goals, her second hat trick in as many games. Stephany Parcell recorded four total points with two goals and two assists.

"It was a very good game," said Temple head coach Bonnie Rosen. "Our kids played well. We just missed a few opportunities to get some defensive stops that we needed, and we let them go on a run for a couple goals when we needed to finish strong.

"Down the stretch, Jaymie came up big with some strong 1 v 1 moves to goal. Our defense came up with some good caused turnovers along the way. In the first half, Steph hit the post three or four times on some great 1 on 1 moves and just barely missed. We made some unforced turnovers at the wrong point. But it was a really good game, we battled hard and just missed the moments to take the game and finish it. Our inexperience showed in that respect, in terms of how to win the big game, but we'll get better at that."

Stanford took a 4-0 lead in the first 10 minutes before Charlotte Swavola got Temple on the board in the 12th minute with a free-position goal. After one more Cardinal goal, Avery Longstaff scored on a pass from Rachel Schwaab to begin a 3-0 run that brought the Owls within one, 5-4 with 2:30 left in the first half. Stanford put one more in the net for a two-goal halftime lead of 6-4.

Kellee Pace scored twice in a 4-2 run to start the second half, with her second goal tying the game for the first time at 7-7. Tabor's first goal a few minutes later tied the score at 8-8 with 22:39 remaining, but the Owls were never able to take the lead.

In an eight-minute span, Stanford scored four unanswered goals for a 12-8 lead. Tabor scored twice in just over a minute, at 10:13 and 9:00, but the Cardinal added two more goals to keep the Owls from getting any closer.

Meghan Clothier had a strong game in goal for Temple with 10 saves. The Owls did well to tie Stanford in draw controls, 13-13, and were edged by just four in shots, 27-23.

Temple will play two more games in California in the coming week. The first is a contest at USC on Wednesday, March 13 at 6:00 p.m. (EST).
