Tabor's Six Goals Not Enough As Lacrosse Falls 19-12 at San Diego State
3.16.13 | Women's Lacrosse
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Temple lacrosse team took an early 4-2 lead, but San Diego State rattled off six-straight and never looked back on the way to a 19-12 victory over the Owls. Jaymie Tabor led TU (5-2) with a six goal outburst, a career-high for the junior. Stephany Parcell recorded three points with two goals and an assist.
The Owls opened the game with two-straight scores, and led 4-2 with 17:43 to go in the half before the Aztecs (5-2) rattled off six-straight to take an 8-4 advantage and chase starting goalkeeper Meghan Clothier. Temple responded with goals from Macie Hauck, Parcell and Tabor over a 1:42 span to pull within one, 8-7, but San Diego State ended the half with three unanswered to enter the halftime with an 11-7 advantage.
The host team kept the momentum rolling in the second, scoring six of the first eight goals of the half to build a commanding 17-9 lead. Michaela Jarvis had four of her team-high six goals during that time.
Tabor got the Owls within 17-12 with a hat trick over the course of eight minutes, but that was as close as the team would get as San Diego State added two insurance goals in the final minute for the winning margin of 19-12.
Temple outshot the Aztecs, 37-28, and controled the draws 21-12. San Diego State led the way with 16 saves against TU's four.
The Owls continue a six-game road swing with a 3 p.m. contest at Hofstra on Thursday, March 21.
