Women's Tennis Falls at Xavier, 4-3

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Temple women's tennis team put up a solid fight, but the Xavier team proved too much in defeating the Owls 4-3 on Friday evening. The match took place at the Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club.
The Musketeers got on the board first with the doubles point. The host team took both the second and third flights for the point.
In singles play, Jordan Batey got the Owls their first point with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the third flight. Xavier came back to win its next three to wrap up the match. Alicia Doms and Minami Okajima were the other point winners for TU, after the match was secured.
Doms needed three sets, but picked up a 3-6, 7-6(3), 7-5 win over Katie Pleiman at the first flight. Okajima won her fourth-straight with a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Caitlin Lawless at No. 6.
Temple (5-8) returns to Philadelphia for a match at cross-city rival Penn at 12 p.m. on March 23.
