PHILADELPHIA - The Temple track and field team will begin their outdoor season this weekend where they will compete in two separate meets. The Owls will compete in Columbia, S.C. and at The University of Pennsylvania this Friday and Saturday. The team will split between the Weems Baskin Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina and the local Philadelphia College Classic.

The Owls had several strong performances in the 2012 outdoor season, as sophomore Darryl McDuffie,  junior Gabe Pickett and sophomore Derek Holland all competed in the 2012 NCAA East Region Preliminaries. Picket was the reigning A-10 Champion and IC4A runner up in the triple jump.
The men recently finished the indoor season with an 8th place finish at the A-10 Championships.

Sophomore Lionel Wilson, senior Damian Myers, junior Gabriel Pickett, and junior Carlton Stafford formed Temple's 4x400 meter relay squad, which came away with a second place finish in their heat and fifth place overall

Sophomore Darryl McDuffie earned five points with his fourth place finish in the high jump.
At the IC4A Championships, The men's 4x400 ran their season best time. Junior Lionel Wilson, senior Damian Myers, junior Carlton Stafford, and junior Gabe Pickett combined for a time of 3:15.86.

Sophomores Matthew Kacyon and Cullen Davis both finished their respected heats with personal best times.
On the women's side a year ago, junior Ambrosia Iwugo had a strong finish in the 400 meter dash for the Owls, as she took the runner-up position in the event with a new personal best and ECAC qualifying time.

Third-year runner Isatta Kenneh led all Owl runners in the 200 meter dash with the third-best time in the event while taking fifth overall and first among Temple competitors in the 100 meter dash.

In their first season with the team, Margo Britton and Jenna Dubrow represented the women in the 2012 USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Britton proved her dominance in the field events. In her first outdoor season as an Owl she had numerous first place finishes, placed second at the Penn Relay's, set a school record at the A-10 Championships and was named the A-10 Outstanding Rookie of the Year.

The 2012-13 Indoor season saw several records and strong finishes by the women.

At the ECAC Championships, the distance medley relay saw, junior Anna Pavone, sophomore Michelle Davis-Timothy, senior Tonney Smith and Dubrow shatter the Temple University record for the second straight meet, as they beat out the old record by twelve seconds for a sixth place finish.

Britton repeated at conference champion in the A-10 Championship and was named the A-10 Outstanding Field Performer of the Year. She finished as a runner up in the shot put at the ECAC Championships
