PHILADELPHIA - Temple Women's Rowing continued their spring season today at Lehigh University in a 3 race competition on the Schuylkill River.
In the first varsity race of the day, the Temple Varsity 8 boats went head to head. The Owls Varsity 8+ 1 comprised of Eleanor Oken (coxswain), Paige O' Sullivan (seat-8) , Claudia Loeber (seat-7), Joanna Sutor (seat-6), Jeanine Lees (seat-5), Moira Meeks (seat-4), Jaqueline Lees (seat 3), Brittany Adell (seat-2) and Emily Opperman (bow), came in second with a time of 7:15.0. The Owls Varsity 8+ 2 , comprised of Kelsey Franks (coxswain), Victoria Joye (seat-8), Kara Carson (seat-7), Ali Watkins (seat-6), Callista DiGuardia (seat-5), Annie Buckley (seat-4), Lauren Kidd (seat-3), Megan Boyer (seat-2), Angela Flinn (bow), followed closely and finished third with a time of 7:44.2.
The Owls entered two boats in a Novice 8/ Varsity 8 combination race against the Mountain Hawks. Temple's Novice 8+ finished with a time of 7:43.2. The boat was comprised of Julia Wolanski (coxswain), Grace Kroner (seat-8), Kathy Bostion (seat-7), Stephanie Barber (seat-6), Emily Leyland (seat-5), Izzy Clark (seat-4), Amanda Benton (seat-3), Emily Hedrick (seat-2) and Christina Orse (bow). The Varsity 8+ 3 boat comprised of Katie Cardwell (coxswain), Eileen Smith (seat-8), Mary Kote Logue (seat-7), Devin Dakes (seat-6), Julie Storr (seat-5), Kelly Hill (seat-4), Nikki Stark (seat-3), Samantha Deegan (seat-2), Stephanie Pennypacker (bow) finished third with a time of 8:53.3
The Varsity 4 race placed the Owls in second with a time of 8:07.0. The boat was comprised of Erin Matz (coxswain), Blair Bradley (seat-4), Sarah Barber (seat-3), Lily Papaleo (seat-2) and Susan O'Neil Coyne (bow).
The Owls return to action on March, 30th at the Murphy Cup in Camden, N.J.
