Robinson Blasts Two Grand Slams in One Game; Owls Take Two from Visiting St. Francis (Pa.)

AMBLER, Pa. – Senior Ali Robinson hit two grand slams in one game, leading the Temple softball team to a 10-4 win over visiting St. Francis (Pa.) in game one of a doubleheader on Sunday, March 24. The Owls won the nightcap 2-1.
In the opener, TU built a 5-0 lead through the first two innings, thanks to a four run second on the first of Robinson's grand slams. The Owls chased starting pitcher Brooke Koch (1-3) after just 1.1 innings of work, five runs and two hits. Chelsea Rex came on in relief and finished out the game, giving up four hits and five runs.
The Red Flash made it a game, scoring once in the fifth and twice more in the sixth to get within 5-3, but TU opened up for five more runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game out of reach. Robinson had her second grand slam of the game in the frame.
Brooklin White (2-5) earned the win, going the distance with six hits allowed, four runs and three strikeouts.
The second game was much tighter with the visitors carrying a 1-0 lead in to the bottom of the seventh. The Cherry & White tied the game on Stephanie Pasquale's leadoff homer, and then got the victory with a Kayla Cook sacrifice fly to come away with the 2-1 victory. Temple's only two hits of the game came in that final inning.
Ketarah Devries (10-6) was the hard luck loser, carrying the no-hitter into the seventh. She struck out nine and walked just three in 6.2 innings. Jessica Tolmie (2-0) got the win, allowing four hits, fanning five and walking two.
Temple (9-14) is back in action on Thursday, March 28, with an Atlantic 10 game against Charlotte. The Owls host the 49ers for a 3 p.m. game Thursday, and another 3 p.m. start on Friday.
