Women's Basketball's Fatima "TNT" Maddox ('07) Returns to the Liacouras Center With the Harlem Globetrotters on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA – In October of 2011, Temple women's basketball alum Fatima Maddox ('07) became the first female player for the Harlem Globetrotters in nearly two decades. This weekend, Maddox makes her return to the Liacouras Center when the Globetrotters' “You Write the Rules” World Tour brings them to town at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10.

For most college athletes, their Senior Day marks the last time they'll ever play on their home court. Maddox is thrilled to have a rare opportunity to return.
“I never thought I'd be able to come back and play at Temple,” she said, “and for me to come back here as a Harlem Globetrotter is a dream come true. I'm excited for the fans to come out and see our new tour.”
Fatima “TNT” Maddox has established herself as a star in her second season with the Globetrotters. Since joining the team, she has played basketball with President Obama at the White House, appeared on “The Today Show” and “Good Morning America,” and entertained over one million fans across the world.
“I always wanted to be a professional athlete,” said Maddox, when asked if she ever saw herself doing something like this as a college player. “I got to do so when I played in Sweden for two years, but being a Globetrotter- I never thought the possibility was out there. For me to be able to carry this torch has been honoring.”
Maddox helped lead Temple to an Atlantic 10 Tournament title in 2006 and played professionally in Sweden before joining the Globetrotters. Maddox played at Temple for her junior and senior seasons after transferring from New Mexico, and helped the Owls to two NCAA Tournaments including a second-round appearance in 2007. She averaged 11.4 points per game as a senior.
