3.6.13 | Women's Gymnastics
PHILADELPHIA—Temple's gymnasts continue to be recognized by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Senior all arounder Jean Alban has been named the league's Gymnast of the Week for the second time this season for the week ending March 4.
Coming off their bye week, the Owls earned their season-best team score (191.175) at the West Virginia quad-meet on Sunday, led by Alban's strong performances. The Springfield, Mass native set career-highs in two different events—vault and bars—topping her previous all-around career high score with Sunday's 38.650 total.
Alban posted a 9.675 on the uneven bars, which was good enough for 16th overall for an individual performance on the apparatus. She posted her highest score on the day on the balance beam, scoring a 9.750 and later set a new career-high on vault with her 9.575.
In six weeks of competition, Temple has had at least one of its gymnasts honored on the ECAC's weekly honor roll. Alban is the Owls' third ECAC Gymnast of the Week this season.
