Women's Tennis Blanks Villanova, 7-0

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's tennis team won its second-straight match, defeating the Villanova Wildcats 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon. The Owls improve to 7-12 overall while Villanova falls to 6-11.
TU earned the doubles point with two quick wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Rebecca Breland and Yana Mavrina teamed up to get the ball rolling, winning 8-1 at the third flight. Jordan Batey and Alicia Doms followed suit with an 8-4 victory at No. 1 to give Temple the point.
Every singles player for the Cherry & White won in straight sets except Batey at No. 1. The junior needed two tiebreaker sets and a tight super tiebreaker to defeat her opponent. Batey ultimately came out on top 7-6(6), 6-7(4), 10-8.
The Owls are back on the courts tomorrow with a 3 p.m. match against Atlantic 10 rival Saint Joseph's.
