Women's Rowing Varsity 8 Places 4th in Knecht Cup Petite Finals

Cherry Hill, NJ- Temple Women's Rowing had a solid day on Cooper River this afternoon, earning 4th place in the Varsity 8+ Petite Finals of the Knecht Cup Regatta.
In the Varsity 8+ Petite Finals the Owls Varsity 8+A Boat finished 4th with a time of 6:56.69, placing 10th overall. The boat was comprised of Kelsey Franks (coxswain), Paige O' Sullivan (seat-8), Claudia Loeber (seat-7), Joanna Sutor (seat-6), Jeanine Lees (seat-5), Moira Meeks (seat-4), Jackie Lees (seat-3), Brittany Adell (seat-2) and Emily Opperman (bow). Trinity went on to win the Petite race with a time of 6:53.68.
The Owls Varsity 8+ B boat was comprised of Eleanor Oken (coxswain), Victoria Joye (seat-8), Kara Carson (seat-7), Allison Watkins (seat-6), Calista DiGuardia (seat-5), Megan Boyer (seat-4), Lauren Kidd (seat-3), Annie Buckley (seat-2) and Angela Flinn (bow). The boat finished 3rd in the race and 15th overall with a time of 7:05.92, behind Duquense, who came in 2nd and Wisconson University Lightweight who took 1st place in the race.
The Temple Women's Rowing Varsity 4+ boat also fared well, with a 6th place finish in the Petite Final race. The boat was comprised of Katie Cardwell (coxswain), Blair Bradley (seat-4), Sarah Barber (seat-3), Lily Papaleo (seat-2) and Susan O'Neil Coyne (bow). The Owls Varsity 4+ placed 12th overall and Drexel University went on to win the Petite Final with a time of 7:59.21.
"We have proven to ourselves that we have what it takes to compete at a very high level and we are feeling excited as we head toward the championship portion of our season", said Temple head coach Rebecca Smith. "We still have some work to do and we look forward to using the next few weeks to continue building speed and sharpening up some portions of our race plan."
The Owls will put this plan in to action when they return to the Schuylkill River and compete in the Bergen Cup Regatta on April 27th.
