CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Senior Devin Bibeau saved his best round of the spring for its final event, carding a two-under 70 to lead the Temple golf team to third place after the first round of competition at the 2013 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship. Bibeau is tied for seventh overall while the Owls (287) are nine strokes behind Charlotte (278) and eight behind VCU (279) after the first day of play at the Heron Bay Golf Club.
Freshman Brandon Matthews was one shot back of Bibeau and tied for 11th with a one-under par 71. Sophomore Matt Teesdale fired an even-par 72 to finish the day tied for 13th. Junior Matthew Crescenzo and sophomore Paul Carbone shot two-over 74s to tie for 25th.
Rhode Island's Branden Chicorka, one of six golfers to shoot under 70 for the day, leads the field of 65 golfers with a six-under 66.
