CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Freshman Brandon Matthews had the best round of the day among the field of 65 golfers, carding a four-under 68, to help keep the Temple men's golf team in third place at the 2013 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship Saturday. Matthews (71-68), who has won three tournaments in his rookie season, is in third place heading into Sunday's final round at the Heron Bay Golf Club with a five-under 139. He is just one shot behind co-leaders Raoul Menard (Charlotte) and Steffen Harm (VCU).
The Owls (287-284,571), looking for their record seventh A10 title, picked up one stroke on the leader Charlotte (278-285, 563), and are eight back of the 49ers. TU also made up seven strokes on VCU (279-291, 570) and trail the 49ers by one shot.
Senior Devin Bibeau and sophomore Matt Teesdale are tied for sixth overall with two-under 142s while junior Matthew Crescenzo (148) and sophomore Paul Carbone (150) round out the squad in 30th and 38th place, respectively.
Play concludes Sunday with the Owls teeing off beginning at 10:30 a.m.
