CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Freshman Brandon Matthews fell just short of capturing the Atlantic 10 Conference title, finishing with a seven-under par 209, two shots behind Charlotte's Raoul Menard (207). The Owl golfer's second place finish was the highest by a Temple player since Jon Rusk won the 2002 A-10 title. He also helped lead the Cherry and White to a third place finish, the program's highest since 2002 when TU also placed third.
Charlotte won the A10 title with a 20-under par 844. VCU was eight strokes behind (852) while the Owls (861) bested fourth-place Xavier (863) by two strokes in the three-day Championship held at the Heron Bay Golf Club.
Senior Devin Bibeau joined Matthews on the all-conference team as he turned in his best performance of his final year. Bibeau carded a three-under 213 to tie for fifth overall.
Sophomore Matt Teesdale (72-70-75, 217) and junior Matthew Crescenzo (74-74-75, 223) were next for Temple, tying for 17th and 34th, respectively. Sophomore Paul Carbone (74-75-74, 224), who had Temple's third best round on the final day, tied for 37th.
