Brandon Matthews Named A-10 Men's Golf Rookie of the Week

PHILADELPHIA – Temple University freshman Brandon Matthews was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week, the A-10 announced on Wednesday. Matthews earns the honor for the fifth time this season.
Matthews helped the Owls capture their first tournament title since 2011 when he led the team with a seven over-par 220 to place sixth at the Wildcat Invitational. The DuPont, Pa. native (Pittston Area) carded a 69 in the morning round on Monday at White Manor Country Club (Malvern, Pa.) and followed that with a 77 in the afternoon session. His three-over 74 Tuesday was crucial in Temple's comeback from a nine-stroke deficit to best Rhode Island by three shots.
